Sheet metal and welding technology
The Alströmergymnasiet premises in Alingsås are home to the Sheet Metal and Welding Technology course, which is organizationally part of the Adult Education Campus Alingsås. It offers modern machines, the latest technology and relevant educational content, as well as excellent teachers. Those who complete the training in Alingsås are well prepared for a continued career in industry after completing the training.

Many new employees
At Alf Pettersson AB, we have hired many employees directly from this training, even though their original background was not necessarily related to industry. After one year of training, they are ready to start working and contributing immediately, not many training programs can boast of that.
Great commitment
One of the great advantages of the training is that the municipality's industrial companies via the Professional Council have a high level of commitment to the training, together with principals and teachers. If the course had not existed, the skills shortage in the municipality would soon have become apparent, and companies would have pulled staff away from each other. Instead, the companies contribute to the training, which is beneficial for both the school and the companies. This ensures that the training is relevant to what companies demand, which in turn leads to graduates being employable immediately after the training.
One-year education
The education is one-year and has between 5-10 students per semester with admission periods in spring and autumn. Part of the training takes place through so-called workplace-based learning (APL). Before the APL period, which normally lasts four weeks, the students visit the companies to familiarize themselves with their operations.
Decision-makers
It is worth noting that not so long ago, many of the municipality's decision-makers were unaware of the high quality of education offered by this training, but recently the awareness has improved considerably, including a study visit to Plåt- och Svetsteknik by the municipal council. Now we at Alf Pettersson AB hope that this high standard can be maintained and that this training model can be expanded to include more specializations.
Social benefit
There is a business and social benefit to our involvement in the school, and it fits in with what we want to do in the long term, which is important for Alingsås. If you can do good where you are and operate, whether it is business, in associations or something else, it goes a long way.
