Passed ISO audit, again!

We are once again proud to have passed the external ISO audit!

The audit, carried out by an external certification organization, aimed to review our management system and ensure that we meet the requirements of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

During an audit, processes, procedures and working methods are reviewed to ensure that a company maintains high standards, for us, in quality and the environment (but in other business contexts also information security). To get an approved result, you need a well-functioning system in place that involves working in a structured way for continuous improvement.

We would like to thank our staff for their commitment and work in maintaining our high standards. This certification is proof of our continuous focus on quality and development.

"The organization has created a management system that is well adapted to the business and provides support for meeting standard requirements, customer requirements and regulatory requirements. I see a forward drive for improvement in a structured way. Positive reception from everyone I met during the audit and a strong commitment from all employees." - Jörgen Hermansson, A3Cert

Together, we continue to improve and deliver with the highest standards!

Elin - Newest colleague at APD

Janne and Elin in discussion about ID labels

Elin, one of our latest additions, comes from Bergstena, a few miles outside Alingsås. Right next to the edge of the forest, she lives with her husband Fredrik and their three daughters, on a large farm where Fredrik farms with grain cultivation and forestry.

When we sit down over a cup of coffee, we know that she is finishing two major projects that she has been working on for a long time, but more about this later.

Elin says that she previously worked as a designer, specializing in car safety before she landed with us. There it was mainly about designing details in various plastic materials and she became a baddare at reading detailed specifications and it goes hand in hand with what she does with us today.

Here she works in the development department APD, where she focuses on standards, regulations, certificates, labeling and material reporting to, among other things, IMDS.

 - "It's important for us to keep up with and manage the demands made, not only by customers and suppliers but also by the Swedish Transport Agency, the EU and others. There's a lot of reading and in-depth study" she says and continues "I research and make sure that all information is up to date".

She has come to work a lot with her colleague Janne, who is also at APD, as well as Anna on quality and Benthe on purchasing - all three, who have large parts in reporting, investigations, risk analysis and documentation.

Looking ahead, we see some new product releases - which Elin has had great involvement in and we think it feels fun and safe to have Elin on the train...

Together with another colleague, Ms. Noack, she has helped to gather directives and rules around the new standard for wide load signs, to ensure that we have the right information and knowledge in the project. In the past few days, the latest prototypes we have developed were tested, with great success.

Right now she is looking forward to Christmas, which means the opportunity for a little extra crafting, cooking and Christmas coziness, something that Elin really enjoys. When she has time, she is happy to be creative in photography and other crafts or she sits down with a good book that can then be ventilated with friends in the book club.

And to return to Elin's major projects that will soon be completed... Among other things, it is an updated variant of our heater Mistral that is in the final stage, but also as we mentioned, the new range of wide load signs, which meet the new regulations from the Swedish Transport Agency and the EU.

Elin has now released its part in the wide load signs and (the range of) products is moving forward into the final stages of the process.

"We are early on the ball and will have a finished range of wide load signs for delivery in early 2025" says Jan-Krister (CEO) when we check the situation after our conversation with Elin.

-

It is an exciting time ahead and we think it is really fun to have strengthened the team with Elin, who has already done a great job to continue to keep Alf Pettersson AB at the forefront of the industry!

Roland and Clara on communication

It has been repeatedly suggested by our colleagues that communication should be interviewed. After all, we have shared many stories about them, so why not... time to come forward ourselves.

We sat down, asked questions and wrote about each other, and here is the article about us, Roland and Clara, on communication....

Roland's illustrations

Roland MacFie started at Alf Pettersson AB in the fall of 2019 after seeing an advertisement for a product manager with us. At the time, he was working with the family's book publishing company, which was not at all about trucks but mostly about children's and youth books.

During the first years at Alf Pettersson AB, he shared the product manager job with his colleague Alf. After a couple of instructive and educational years, the company's operations developed further, and he continued in a more communicative direction. As he had previous experience as a marketing manager in a healthcare company, the role was a perfect fit. Roland is also both creative and structured.

Roland has an overall role in which he largely uses his knowledge as a former product manager. Everything from taking care of the web, supporting the creation of marketing material and product information to flying drones or leading assortment council meetings.

Roland lives with his wife Susanne by Lake Gerdsken in Alingsås. They have three children together, Sarah, Josefine and Christoffer. In addition, three grandchildren have been added to the family, with whom he is more than happy to spend time.

For those who are curious about the name: he got it when he married Susanne, whose relatives in the MacFie clan emigrated to Sweden from Scotland in 1823.

In addition to spending time with his family, he likes music and plays several musical instruments. It used to be a lot of 70s and 80s rock, but nowadays it's very varied. There are many playlists on Spotify, ranging from rock and house to classical. Roland is also a devil at drawing and has illustrated some 20 children's and youth books.

When it comes to the lunch box, well, Roland is not quite as creative as usual. His go-to is chicken gravy with pasta.

Clara Stamborg has returned to the woods in Maryd outside Alingsås after a number of years living in Alingsås, Trollhättan and York. In Maryd, she is currently planning her and her partner Robin's future house, which will also accommodate Echo, her Flatcoated retriever.

As a trained adventure coach and active/old OCR* runner, it is perhaps not surprising that Clara enjoys being out in the woods and fields, preferably running with Echo and a running buddy. If it's not in the forests of Maryd, Clara prefers the Scottish Highlands, the Austrian Alps or the Swedish mountains. Clara has competed in OCR at the elite level and placed 8th at the World Cup 2022 and 13th at the Spartan World Championship 2018 and a comeback in the coming years is not entirely excluded...

Clara has been employed at Alf Pettersson AB since 2015, then she worked with sales, produced marketing material and took care of our website.

So many of our old customers have chatted with Clara on the phone or by email when they have placed their orders or needed information about our products. Nowadays, Clara's job is purely information and communication work with a focus on marketing and sales.

What did Clara do in Trollhättan? Well, she attended a higher education program in Digital Media, where part of the program was located in York, England. A city that has a special place in Clara's heart.

When she sinks into the couch at home, it is a good movie or computer and TV games that are on the agenda.

Clara's hidden talent is that she is an expert at filleting fish, since her youth in the fish truck.

In the lunch box that has been chosen in advance, it will be Anamma Vegofar sauce with pasta.

What do we actually do?

So, what do we do in communication, because it is a joint effort, with all that communication entails. With a bit of support from design, who know a lot about products, we actually create everything you see and touch.

With my sales background and Roland's product knowledge, together we have shaped the communication both externally and internally, but also developed the product information.

A typical day with us can include 3D rendering of products on a truck, writing newsletters, maintaining the website and creating brochures for the sales staff. Everything that should be visible and tell about Alf Pettersson AB is carefully treated by us at communication to be shared internally or externally.

October 2023 Cycling Challenge

Hello, Clara in communications here. - Me with the flowery sweater at Alf Pettersson AB...

I invited our cycling enthusiasts to a small "sit down" where I, on the last day, wanted to inquire about how it went, why they chose to participate and whether they will continue cycling even after the challenge. Of course, I myself have participated in the challenge, in addition to the fact that I have actually cycled since mid-April (yes, I actually put the car away for the summer).

This year we had 10 participants in the challenge, which took place in October, including both communicators, myself and Roland. In addition to us, Jan-Krister, Anna, Jesper, Simon, Benthe, Gareth, Henrik and Veronika also cycled, which is absolutely fantastic. What we all agree on is that the next challenge should include at least 5 more people. We all want to participate again, but we see potential in our other colleagues as well.

October is not a great month for cycling and more than once, most of us probably hesitated whether we should really take the bike.

"Because my son and I cycle past the school on my way to work, some days were difficult to motivate - he didn't want to cycle, so we actually took the car," said Jan-Krister, who nevertheless cycled many of the days.

The times you cycle past traffic jams on the way home are warmer than the rain is cooler, according to both Jan-Krister and Jesper, who live quite centrally.

Jesper usually cycles to work too - "However, it's always more fun to have a challenge and some internal competition in the workplace" he says. Everyone agrees - and most of the people who don't usually cycle are there mainly because of the challenge. "If Anna can cycle, so can I," adds Jan-Krister.

Veronika is our "veteran" - she cycles almost every day, all year round. Snow, rain, wind and sun - nothing stops her! She has, like most others in the gang between 2 - 3 km one way - but also cycles home sometimes for lunch. Anna, who lives in Lerum, clearly has the longest - but has put together different distances depending on her stamina. The commute between Gothenburg and Alingsås gives her a good boost. "They have actually fixed bicycle parking on the trains," she says, showing a picture of both bicycle racks and clear signs. Super nice, we think!

In general, we have all cycled safely in the dark - reflectors, lights, helmets and high-visibility vests - Safety is important, we think! It is only Henrik who got into a little trouble during the month, but the worst has been a dented bicycle basket and a bruised ego, fortunately.

We talked a bit about alternative challenges and came to the conclusion that a step challenge could perhaps be the next internal competition - A little smoother and also maybe you can count the steps during the rest of the day as well? - Who actually takes the most steps at Alf Pettersson AB?

Cycle safely! //Clara

Fact box

Alf Pettersson AB has participated in the "bicycle challenge" for the second time this year. Cykelvänligast is a challenge that is organized throughout Sweden - all you have to do is register one or more teams of 3-5 people, from your workplace. You can read more here: https://cykelvanligast.se/
Together, we at Alf Pettersson AB have cycled a total of 162 days and 1195 km. Henrik has been the most diligent, who cycled 19 out of 20 days, but in the number of kilometers cycled, I actually win, with 210 km. In the internal competition, the team "AP Premium Bikers" (Anna, Veronika, Gareth, Roland and myself) who each week cycled the most kilometers to our common pot and swept the carpet with "Jeppes biker boys" (Simon, Jesper, Benthe, Henrik and Jan-Krister) won.
